Year: 2005-2007
Area: 1500sqm
Client: Private
This new house is sited on the banks of the Bogan River in rural New South
Wales, near the town of Nyngan. It incorporates three distinct buildings united
under one large floating roof structure which provides rainwater collection
and shade.
The house has a total of 24 bedrooms, and has the capacity
to accommodate guests with its commercial grade kitchens and facilities.
The entire house is raised above the height of the devastating flood
levels of 1990 and the entire site is to be surrounded by a new levee
wall to provide safe refuge.
The centrepiece of the scheme is the original homestead which is
to be relocated, brick by brick, into the middle of the new walled sculpture
garden.
